Rugby Seed Swap

“Seed saving and seed sharing is fun and keeps alive a wide range of seeds adapted to the changing climate and local soils, while boosting biodiversity”

About 40 people came last Saturday to the lively event, with lots of information exchanged and tasty refreshments served by the café team. More than 100 varieties of seeds were available. Although most people came with home-saved seeds to swap, we still collected donations for about 50 packets of seeds from others who didn't! Heritage Seed Library and Rugby Community Champions were there and many organic seed potatoes were on sale, as well, including the blight resistant Šarpo Axona. We hope the participants have a good growing season.

We are planning a Plant Swap on Saturday 2nd May at the Eco Hub, so bear that in mind, when sowing your seeds, if you want to bring some spare plants along to swap at that event.

Upcoming Sessions:

Saturday 21st 10:30am – 12:30pm

We’re sorting out the food growing demo area behind the Eco Hub, preparing the planters, clearing space and tidying up. Also deciding our sowing schedule. Do join us then. Lunches available afterwards!

Saturday 28th 2pm - 4pm

Help us put more compost on the herb beds at The Pleasance Herb Garden.

Library of Things - Severn Trent Corporate Volunteers

WhatsApp Image 2026-02-02 at 19.56.38

A big thank you to the volunteers from Severn Trent that came this month!

They helped with the Nappy Library, the new Repair Cafe tool box and the Library of Things.

They weighed all of the Library of Things items to give us a more accurate amount of CO₂ saved by people borrowing other than buying. We went from 685kg of Carbon saved to 999kg!

What a milestone!

Rugby Nappy Library

sg-11134201-22100-ms0n4r2zcmivd4.jpg

Thanks to donations from the public, the UK Nappy Network and donations from volunteers from the Nappy Library we have been able to set up 8 sets of reusable nappies that are now available to loan for free.

Thanks to these donations, the first 6 people to loan a nappy pack will get a free gift!

We are also looking for a nappy library lead, a volunteer that will maintain the stock of nappies, check in and out the nappy sets and make and attend outreach events to demonstrate and educate about reusable nappies.

“More disposable nappies are found in UK household waste than anything else. By swapping out one single-use nappy a day for a reusable, you could save 912 nappies from landfill” - The Nappy Lady

Thinking Thursday - 12th March, 7:30pm-9pm, the Eco Hub

End of Ten Workshops

26th March 2026, The Eco Hub 7pm - 9pm

windows-10-ten-end-of-life-small-business

Extended support for Windows 10 ends on October 13, 2026. Microsoft wants you to buy a new computer as Windows 11 has strict hardware requirements - if your machine doesn't meet them, then the only way to keep running Windows safely is to buy a new computer.

But what if you could make your current one fast and secure again?

If you bought your computer after 2010, there's most likely no reason to throw it out. By just installing an up-to-date Linux based operating system you can keep using it for years to come. Installing an operating system may sound difficult, but you don't have to do it alone. So we’d like to help.

We can…

  • Help you backup all of your photos, music, documents and other personal files.
  • Show you the alternatives to Windows. Various flavours of Linux and Google’s Chrome are available for free.
  • Help you choose which alternative is right for use.
  • Install the new software on your laptop including web browsers, office suites, video editing and a wide range of other free packages.
  • Put all of your files back onto your computer.
  • Provide follow up suggestions on what else you can now do with all this free software.

www.endof10.org

We will be holding our first session on Thursday 26th March at 7pm at the Rugby Eco Hub. We will have laptops running some of the alternative software that you can choose from and people to explain how the change will work.

Further sessions will be held to help with making the change once everyone has had the chance to see how we can help.

This event brings together individuals and organisations who are passionate about the environment.

Join us for a community networking event bringing together groups and organisations with a shared passion for the environment.

This event will create a space for individuals to connect, exchange ideas and showcase ongoing projects, strengthening collaboration throughout Rugby and beyond.

Following feedback from our previous Nature in Focus event in July 2025, this event is designed to give attendees more opportunities to meet like‑minded people, build new partnerships, and discuss local environmental action.

This event is in partnership between Rugby Borough Council and Warwickshire Wildlife Trust.
